The Stadler Center takes no responsibility for recommendations that arrive after the deadline.

Bucknell Seminar for Undergraduate Poets

Undergraduates at U.S. colleges and universities who will complete their sophomore, junior, or senior year in the year of application are eligible. Students who have begun graduate programs are not eligible.

Application requirements: letter of introduction, poetry resume, poetry sample, official transcript(s), two letters of recommendation.

Applications will open in late August.

Stadler Fellowship

To be eligible, an applicant must be at least 21 years of age, reside in the United States, have received an MFA or MA in creative writing (in poetry) no earlier than spring 2014, and not be enrolled as a student during the period of the residency. Persons enrolled in a college or university at the time of application are eligible. Poets who have published a full-length collection or have a collection accepted for publication are not eligible. (Please note: Poets with a PhD are not eligible.)

Application requirements: letter of application, curriculum vita, 10-pg poetry sample, three letters of recommendation

Applications will open in late August.

Roth Residence in Creative Writing

To be eligible, an applicant must be at least 21 years of age, reside in the United States, and not be enrolled as a student in a college or university. (Persons enrolled in a college or university at the time of application are eligible). Some record of publication is desirable. The 2019-20 Roth Residences will be awarded to writers of prose (fiction and/or literary nonfiction). Please note that the Roth Residence is no longer awarded to poets in alternating years; only writers of fiction and/or literary nonfiction are eligible going forward.

Application requirements: letter of application, curriculum vita, up to 20 pages of prose fiction or literary nonfiction, three letters of recommendation

Applications will open in late August.

Cadigan Prizes for Younger Writers

The Cadigan Prizes for Younger Writers recognize outstanding poetry and prose by Bucknell undergraduates. Current, full-time Bucknell undergraduates are eligible. First and second place cash prizes, as well as honorable mentions at the judges' discretion, are awarded in each of two categories: prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and poetry. Each year the Stadler Center staff selects writers who are not affiliated with Bucknell to serve as judges.
