roll - run - hit - run - roll - tick - is an installation by Korean-born, Chicago-based artist Jin Soo Kim. Exploring travel literally through physical sculptural objects and metaphorically through sound elements, the installation consists of eight 10-inch by 8-inch by 8 1/2-foot long fabricated steel tunnels that emit quiet yet discernable layered sounds including ticking clocks, breaking light bulbs and clanging metal plates from railroad tracks. roll - run - hit - run - roll - tick - evokes the psychological nature of travel, offers a passage between past and present, and addresses the transitory nature of our existence. Jin Soo Kim, who has modified the installation at each venue as it travels throughout the US, will travel to Bucknell to install the work in the gallery.
